Female Athletic Director in Alabama to Get Bias Trial Over Pay

A jury could find an Alabama school board paid its former athletic director less than men holding similar positions because she is a woman, the Northern District of Alabama ruled.

Connie L. Morris says the Bessemer City Board of Education violated the Equal Pay Act from September 2015 through June 2019 by paying its male director of maintenance and male technology coordinator more than her.

Morris’ salary was set at $71,724 under a settlement agreement that resolved her prior disparate pay suit against the board, the court said. The maintenance director’s salary was $85,799 and the technology director “was also ...
