The National Labor Relations Board Feb. 18 ordered FedEx Freight to begin contract negotiations with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, acknowledging its representation of 50 drivers at the company’s Stockton, Calif., terminal (FedEx Freight, N.L.R.B., 2/18/16).
The NLRB ruled the Memphis, Tenn.-based shipping company violated sections 8(a)(5) and (1) of the National Labor Relations Act by refusing to bargain with IBT Local 439. The union filed the unfair labor practice charge Nov. 24, months after drivers March 13, 2015, voted 33-12 for Local 439 representation, according to NLRB records.
