Federal workers, retirees and other enrollees in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program will see their health insurance premiums increase by a projected average of 6.2 percent next year, a top Office of Personnel Management official said.
The government’s share of the cost of FEHBP premiums is projected to go up by 3.7 percent in calendar year 2017, John O’Brien, director of Healthcare and Insurance at the OPM, said during a Sept. 28 media briefing. Both enrollee and government costs, FEHBP premiums are expected to rise by an average of 4.4 percent, he said.
