A group of federal employees is suing the Trump administration over changes to the Office of Special Counsel, the government watchdog tasked with serving as an independent check on political leadership.
In a complaint filed Wednesday to the US District Court for the District of Columbia, five civil servants allege that the office abandoned its Congressional mandate to protect them from political meddling when President Donald Trump fired its Senate-confirmed leader and fast-tracked the firing of probationary workers. The case was brought by Democracy Forward, a nonprofit legal group that has challenged other Trump policies.
