An attorney who says that she was sexually harassed by a supervisor while working in the Federal Public Defender’s Office in North Carolina and that managers and U.S. court administrators were indifferent to her allegations can pursue some of her claims, the Fourth Circuit ruled Tuesday.

Caryn Strickland alleges that the system the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit set up for reviewing discrimination and harassment claims by judicial branch employees—who aren’t covered by the federal anti-bias laws that apply to most other workers—failed to provide her with due process and equal protection.
