Federal Labor Board Gets Back in Action With Routine Decisions

Jan. 8, 2026, 10:47 PM UTC

The National Labor Relations Board handed down its first rulings since it regained its ability to decide cases.

The NLRB issued a series of unpublished decisions Thursday adopting administrative law judge orders that weren’t challenged by either the charged party or the general counsel’s office.

This first tranche included ALJ rulings that Fields Fire Protection LLC, Auto-Chlor System of Washington Inc., US Postal Service, All Metals Recycling LLC, and Security Officers Association of America committed unfair labor practices.

The initial actions came a day after James Murphy and Scott Mayer were sworn in as members, giving the board a stable quorum for first time since President Donald Trump hobbled it by firing a sitting board member in January 2025.

The NLRB’s unpublished decisions represent the lowest of low-hanging fruits as the board starts processing its case backlog.

The board’s adoptions of administrative law judge rulings are essentially automatic, issued by the executive secretary’s office at the direction of the board based on the expiration of the time allowed for parties to file an appeal.

The cases are Fields Fire Prot., LLC, N.L.R.B., Case 04-CA-311903, 1/8/26, Auto-Chlor Sys. of Washington, Inc., N.L.R.B., Case 19-CA-313715, 1/8/26, US Postal Service, N.L.R.B., Case 07-CA-300756, 1/8/26, All Metals Recycling, LLC, and Aliquippa Recycling and Metals Processing, LLC, N.L.R.B., Case 06-CA-316870, 1/8/26 and Sec. Officers Ass’n of Am., N.L.R.B., Case 27-CB-321988, 1/8/26.
