Faegre Drinker Employee Sues Unum Over Disability Benefit Denial

Unum Life Insurance Company of America unfairly denied disability benefits to an employee of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Minnesota federal court.

Dalana Rayne filed for disability benefits in September 2023, sending Unum a psychological evaluation that said her “ability to concentrate and attend to the details of her job are significantly compromised.”

The medical evidence shows that Rayne is “severely disabled” and entitled to benefits under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, she argued in the US District Court for the District of Minnesota.
