Fabrication Company Pays $250,000 in Disability Bias Settlement

Ranew’s Management Co., Inc. will pay $250,000 to settle a disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, according to the agency.

An employee of Ranew’s, a provider of fabrication, coating, and assembly products, in 2018 informed the company of his diagnosis of severe depression and requested to take a doctor-recommended leave, according to the suit. Ranew’s CEO agreed to the request, but then fired the employee when he was medically cleared to return to work six weeks later.
