A former wrestling coach can pursue race bias and whistleblower retaliation claims against a suburban Chicago school district, but some of his other allegations need more work, a federal judge said.
Andrew Owens sufficiently alleged that Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 retaliated after he reported a racially-motivated bullying incident, the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said. But the ex-coach didn’t provide enough details for his First Amendment retaliation claim to move forward, the Wednesday order said.
