Ex-House Labor Chief Watson Tapped for DOL Congressional Office

President Joe Biden intends to nominate Elizabeth Watson, a former senior labor aide on the House Education and Labor Committee, to head the U.S. Labor Department’s congressional affairs team, the White House announced Tuesday.

Watson, executive director of the nonprofit Congressional Progressive Caucus Center, would serve as the DOL’s assistant secretary for congressional and intergovernmental affairs if confirmed by the Senate. She’s well-known in labor circles on Capitol Hill, following her tenure as labor policy director for Chairman Bobby Scott (D-Va.) on the House workforce panel.
