A former City University of New York athletic manager who was fired for allegedly sexually harassing a student was entitled to a name-clearing hearing but didn’t get one, a federal jury decided.
Rogelio Knights sued the school for ruining his good name during an investigation of the claims.
But the jury only awarded Knights $1 in nominal damages in the case, tried in the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York. The jurors rejected questions asking whether Knights was entitled to economic or noneconomic damages.
