The US Departments of Homeland Security and Defense are facing a lawsuit accusing them of ordering the firing of a Coast Guard contractor after officials discovered social media posts he made regarding the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Peter Souders, a former engineer and project manager at Advanced Concepts Enterprises Inc., sued the agencies in DC federal court Wednesday for violating his First Amendment rights. These rights enable government employees and contractors to express their views on matters of public concern without fear of retribution or retaliation, he said.
