Ethiopians Get Temporary Protected Status Change Postponed (1)

Immigrants from Ethiopia convinced a Massachusetts federal court to postpone the effective date of the Trump administration’s termination of their Temporary Protected Status, which shields them from deportation.

The government terminated their status without regard for the process Congress set out, Judge Brian E. Murphy of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts said in a Wednesday order.

The plaintiffs are likely to show the government failed to consult with appropriate agencies before terminating Ethiopia’s designation, in violation of the TPS law, Murphy said.
