Employers Hit H-2B Visa Cap for First Half of 2026 Fiscal Year

US businesses filed enough petitions for H-2B seasonal work visas to reach a congressional cap for the first half of the fiscal year.

US Citizenship and Immigration Services said Monday that Sept. 12 was the last receipt date for worker petitions under the cap for jobs with start dates of March 31 or earlier.

The H-2B program allows seasonal employers to hire foreign workers for temporary non-agricultural jobs, typically in industries like landscaping, hospitality, and seafood processing. The 66,000 visas allowed under the statutory cap are split between the two halves of the fiscal year.
