Service workers at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, Calif., are now a part of the SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West union thanks to a representation vote, a spokesperson from the union told Bloomberg BNA Aug. 24.
The new members include almost 400 nursing assistants, cleaning staff, radiology technicians, and other service employees. Workers approved the union 265-55 on Aug. 22, union spokesperson Sean Wherley said. A schedule for when negotiations will start hasn’t been decided, he said.
