EEOC Member, General Counsel Nominees Get Senate Panel Approval

Two nominees for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission were approved by a Senate committee July 30, setting the women up for a full floor vote soon.

Charlotte Burrows (D) was advanced for a second term as a member of the commission and Sharon Gustafson as the agency’s new general counsel. The picks were approved by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee 23-0 for Burrows and 13-10 for Gustafson.

It’s unclear, however when the two nominees will get a full Senate vote. Committee member Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) on July 29 said Gustafson and Burrows are long shots ...
