EEOC Jumped Into More Employee Court Fights in Busy 2023 (1)

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission saw an uptick in amicus briefs filed in 2023 compared to the year before, part of an overall recent increase in litigation activity at the civil rights agency.

The EEOC posted 30 “amicus” or friend-of-the-court briefs that were filed last year on its website through Dec. 29,, according to a Bloomberg Law webpage review on that date. Of these briefs, 30% were based on disability bias claims and 36.6% were based on retaliation claims.

The agency filed 23 amicus briefs in all of calendar year 2022.
