EEOC Issues Dual Memos Altering Parts of Federal Sector Program

Republican EEOC Acting Chair Andrea Lucas has issued new memos that bar monetary sanctions against agencies in federal sector workforce discrimination cases and seek to preserve the “presumption of innocence” of those accused of bias.

Lucas’s two memos will change aspects of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s work in the process of adjudicating federal sector cases, which the civil rights agency tackles in addition to accepting charges from private sector workers claiming Civil Rights Act violations.
