Hillstone Restaurant Group, Inc. allegedly violated federal law by denying applicants age 40 and over for front-of-house positions because of their age at its two New York City locations, according to the EEOC Friday.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Hillstone did not hire qualified applicants because they were deemed “too old” or “not the demographic” it wanted to hire, according to the agency.
The EEOC filed suit in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York to seek back pay, liquidated damages, and injunctive relief designed to remedy and prevent future age discrimination, the EEOC said. ...
