EEOC Chair Warns Fortune 500 Leaders of DEI Programs’ Risks (1)

EEOC Chair Andrea Lucas fired a warning shot to the nation’s largest companies with a new letter to Fortune 500 leaders that underscores the commission’s intent to investigate diversity programs it deems discriminatory and potentially sue.

In her Thursday message to CEOs, board chairs, and general counsel, the Republican Equal Employment Opportunity Commission leader said she sought to ensure the companies were aware of the agency’s guidance about how diversity, equity, and inclusion programs may result in discrimination.

The letter also said the EEOC is committed to “fully utilizing all statutory tools to fulfill the Commission’s mission,” including litigation.
