The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission canceled a public meeting to discuss stripping its general counsel’s remaining authority to bring and intervene in discrimination lawsuits without a full commission vote.
The meeting, initially scheduled for Jan. 14, would have considered a proposal to require all lawsuits and friend-of-the-court briefs to undergo a full commission vote, regardless of whether they involved routine litigation matters.
