Education Dept. Accused of Imposing Unilateral Contract on Union

The Department of Education is allegedly forcing a seven-year labor contract on the union that represents its employees.

That’s from the American Federation of Government Employees, which said March 14 that the department implemented the contract “after months of anti-union proposals and hostile behavior at the bargaining table.”

The department itself had a different take on the contract, which among other things lays out ground rules for future negotiations between the two parties.
