Education Department Finalizes Pell Grant Rule for Job Training

The Department of Education finalized regulations Monday to carry out an expansion of Pell Grants for short-term workforce training programs.

Students will gain access to Pell Grant funds for enrollment in job training typically provided at community and technical colleges.

Expansion of the federal aid program, traditionally geared toward low-income students for undergraduate education, comes out of the Republicans’ 2025 tax-and-spending law. The changes go into effect July 1.
