The complaint alleges violations of federal civil rights law 42 U.S.C. § 1981, as well as the Michigan Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination and retaliation based on race. Jackson, who is Black, claims he was subjected to racial harassment by a supervisor, denied promotions, and ultimately fired by Dow in retaliation for complaining about discrimination.
