DoorDash Accused of Violating Wage Laws in Multiple States

Delivery drivers in California, Illinois, and Massachusetts filed a proposed class action against DoorDash Inc. in California federal court, alleging the company blatantly disregards federal and state labor laws by continuing to classify them as independent contractors instead of employees entitled to certain protections and benefits.

DoorDash’s alleged misclassification “depresses Dashers’ wages, forcing many to work multiple jobs to make ends meet” while the company continues “to reap the benefit of their work and maximize its profit,” according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
