Domino’s Drivers Settle Claims Over Car Expense Reimbursement

A Domino’s pizza franchisee will pay a settlement to some 411 delivery drivers who say they make less than minimum wage because they’re not sufficiently reimbursed for their automobile expenses.

Drivers use their personal vehicles to make deliveries, but they aren’t fully reimbursed for maintenance and insurance, they allege. The franchisee, TJK-ELS Inc., contends that its reimbursement rate of 30 cents per mile was adequate to cover driver costs, but the drivers say their expenses were higher. They noted that the IRS mileage rate is 56 cents per mile.
