The director of the US Labor Department’s faith office requested the agency alter how it words grant opportunities to encourage religious organizations to apply.
Kenneth Wolfe, who leads the DOL’s Center for Faith, asked Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer in a memo Tuesday to approve language that “explicitly welcomes and encourages faith organization to apply for DOL grants.”
The move stems from President Donald Trump’s executive order creating agency-level Faith Offices and directing federal agencies to find ways to ensure religious organizations can compete for federal funding.
