The U.S. Department of Labor and a public-sector union have asked a federal judge to pause a case challenging the use of federal funds to privatize the processing of jobless claims and benefits while the department seeks to revise a Trump-era regulation allowing it.
Attorneys for the government, along with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, filed a 60-day joint motion to stay Friday in a case that seeks to overturn a Trump administration rule that would allow states to begin outsourcing those employment services out to the private sector.
