The US Department of Labor is focusing on worker protections as it aims to address several aspects of a sweeping executive order on the use of artificial intelligence in employment practices as well as workplace safety and health, according to the agency’s top litigator.
Solicitor of Labor Seema Nanda said in a panel discussion at an ABA Midwinter meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Wednesday that in all of its AI work, the agency is thinking both about how the technology can both improve workers’ lives and undermine existing labor and employment rights.
