A worker rights organization is asking a federal court to overturn a Labor Department policy that created extra bureaucratic hurdles in certifying visa applications for victims of human trafficking and other workplace crimes.
New Orleans Workers’ Center for Racial Justice alleged Tuesday that the DOL’s Wage and Hour Division violated administrative procedure law by adopting the policy change last year without undergoing public notice and comment and without providing a reasonable explanation for the move.
