DOL Seeks Public Help to Assess STEM, AI Workforce Shortages

The US Department of Labor is asking the public for data on the scope of labor shortages in STEM and artificial intelligence fields, as it considers revisions for occupations that qualify for streamlined employment-based immigrant visas.

The request for information, released Friday, is part of President Joe Biden’s October AI executive order aimed at advancing the nation’s foothold in the development of AI technology, while outlining principles to help identify and develop guardrails against its potential risks.
