DOL Official Advanced in Bid to Become Personnel Office Watchdog

A Senate panel advanced the nomination of a Labor Department official to serve as the Office of Personnel Management’s watchdog, setting up the nominee for consideration by the full Senate.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee signed off on a group of nominees by voice vote Wednesday that included Craig Leen to be inspector general of the independent agency that manages the federal government’s civilian workforce.

Leen is now head of the Labor Department’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, which audits federal contractors for compliance with equal employment opportunity requirements. Leen will remain as the OFCCP’s director ...
