The Labor Department Feb. 11 issued a final rule that will reverse many of the changes made under the Bush administration to the H-2A agricultural guestworker program.
The rule, which is scheduled for publication in the Feb. 12 Federal Register, reflects DOL’s “commitment to fair wages and strong labor protections for the most vulnerable workers,” Labor Secretary Hilda Solis said.
The final rule keeps in place almost all of the changes that were included in the proposed rule issued in Sept. 2009 (170 DLR AA-1, 9/4/09), a DOL official told BNA Feb. 10.
