DOL Contractor Watchdog Staff Press New Boss Over Layoff Plan

Several regional leaders at the Department of Labor’s federal contractor compliance watchdog are pressing its acting director to meet with staff to resolve confusion around plans to cut 90% of its workforce, according to an email reviewed by Bloomberg Law.

Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs employees have been encouraged to reach out to agency leadership with questions about the uncertain future of the office after a Trump executive order gutted its enforcement power, but there’s been a “total absence of communication” from leadership, said an email dated Thursday and signed by five assistant directors of regional agency offices.
