A Labor Department attorney speaking at a May 21 symposium provided a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs selects which employers under its jurisdiction will undergo compliance audits in a given year.
Consuela Pinto, an attorney in DOL’s Office of the Solicitor, said the process—the Federal Contractor Selection System—is a neutral one based on a variety of factors. The FCSS uses multiple information sources such as federal acquisition and procurement databases, EEO-1 employer information reports, Dun & Bradstreet data, census data, and statistical thresholds such as industry type and employee counts, Pinto said.
