An organization that settles arbitration disputes over surprise medical bills is illegally relying on a key payment factor in its decisions, a group of medical providers said in a new lawsuit.
Eight medical practices led by NU Spine, LLC sued National Medical Reviews, Inc. in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey on Friday, alleging the arbitrator gave the median in-network rate too much weight in violation of recent court decisions rejecting the Biden administration’s implementation of the dispute process.
The doctors subsequently asked the court to overturn a series of arbitration awards and mandate new reviews. ...
