Dish Network Union Talks Didn’t Show Bargaining Deadlock

Dish Network and union negotiators spent more than four years discussing a contract for about 45 technicians and warehouse employees, but they still hadn’t reached an impasse in negotiations.

This was the conclusion of the National Labor Relations Board, which held June 28 that the company illegally implemented changes in compensation and benefits for the Texas employee unit during the contract talks.

Under the National Labor Relations Act, an employer may not unilaterally impose changes in employment terms during contract talks unless the talks have reached a good faith impasse that precludes an agreement and makes further talks—at least temporarily—unproductive. ...
