Dillard’s to Pay $70,000 to Settle Employee Retaliation Lawsuit

Dillard’s Inc. will pay $70,000 and provide additional relief to settle an EEOC retaliation lawsuit filed on behalf of a worker at its Northpoint Store in Georgia, the agency announced Friday.

After informing her new manager of her existing pregnancy-related accommodation, a sales associate was transferred to a different department and her accommodation was rescinded, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said.

The employee later complained the transfer was discriminatory on the basis of her race and pregnancy, and Dillard’s allegedly failed to respond, instead reducing her hours, the EEOC said. She was fired after the store didn’t ask her to ...
