Dillard’s Biased Against Black Workers, College Kids, EEOC Says

Dillard’s Inc. fails to post openings for managers and supervisors and instead uses a “tap on the shoulder” promotion system that discriminates against Black employees nationwide, the EEOC alleges in federal lawsuit in Arkansas.

The department store chain also discriminates against Black college students when recruiting for its Little Rock Buyers Program—paid internships that eventually lead to managerial or supervisory positions, the suit says.

Only one of the 41 students recruited into the program since its formation has been Black, all the rest have been White, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission told the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District ...
