Diagnostics Provider Unlawfully Fired Pregnant Worker, EEOC Says

A medical diagnostics provider in Georgia violated federal law when it fired a molecular laboratory technician after she missed work for pregnancy-related health issues, the EEOC said in a new lawsuit.

The worker’s discharge also amounted to unlawful retaliation because it occurred after she complained about pregnancy discrimination, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleged in its complaint against Bakotic Pathology Associates LLC, which does business as Bako Diagnostics.
