The Department of Homeland Security is continuing to defend an international student work program that a group of U.S. tech workers say is creating extra job competition for them.
The agency asked a federal court in Washington Oct. 18 to ditch a lawsuit challenging the department’s authority to create the optional practical training program. The program allows foreign graduates of U.S. colleges and universities to work in the U.S. for a set period of time after graduation, while still maintaining their student visas.
The Washington Alliance of Technology Workers says the DHS doesn’t have the authority to create the program. ...
