DHS Loosens Requirements for Yemeni Student Visa Holders

Yemeni students in the U.S. are getting relaxed visa requirements under new Department of Homeland Security guidance.

Citizens of civil-war-ravaged Yemen who are studying in the U.S. on non-immigrant F-1 visas no longer must take the full required course loads or class attendance hours generally required by the visa program, according to the DHS notice released Wednesday.

These students will be allowed to request work authorization and work more hours while their schools are in session, suspending a 20-hour cap on on-campus employment, effective Sept. 4, 2021 through March 3, 2023, according to the notice. In a given fiscal year, ...
