DHS Gears Up New Personnel System for Cybersecurity Workers

The Department of Homeland Security will roll out a new personnel system next year for approximately 10,000 professionals in its cybersecurity workforce, the agency’s top HR official said Sept. 25.

The new system will give DHS more flexibility to hire people based on their skills rather than their credentials, DHS Chief Human Capital Officer Angela Bailey said during a panel discussion on a new report from the National Academy of Public Administration, a Washington-based nonprofit.

The rollout at DHS will be phased in during calendar year 2019, she told Bloomberg Law after the discussion.
