A federal judge in New York temporarily postponed the Department of Homeland Security’s removal of temporary protections for several thousand Syrian immigrants.
A group of Syrian nationals represented by the International Refugee Assistance Project sued the Trump administration in October in the Southern District of New York, arguing the termination of Temporary Protected Status for roughly 6,000 immigrants from the country violated the Administrative Procedure Act. They also claimed violations of equal protections under the Fifth Amendment.
