Denny’s Stiffed Servers by Misusing Tipped Wage, Lawsuit Says (1)

Denny’s Inc. systematically and willfully underpaid servers at several of its restaurants in Pennsylvania, according to a lawsuit filed by a waitress at one of the Quaker State locations.

The company failed to notify tipped workers when management would pay them a lower minimum wage and frequently required servers to perform non-tipped work unrelated to their serving duties, Juli Wintjen said. She filed the complaint under federal and state law Jan. 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
