Democrats Renew Push to Expand LGBT Protections Against Bias (1)

Democrats, with majorities in both chambers of Congress, are renewing their bid to enact legislation that would amend federal civil rights laws to ban discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation.

“In 2021, every American should be treated with respect and dignity,” said David Cicilline (D-R.I.), who reintroduced the bill in the House. “Yet, in most states, LGBTQ people can be discriminated against because of who they are, or who they love. It is past time for that to change.”
