Democrats’ Pregnancy Bias Bill Revamped to Attract GOP Support (1)

Requiring employees to notify their employer of a pregnancy and negotiating accommodations are among the changes Democrats are proposing to a measure to attract Republican and business community support.

The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (H.R. 2694) is meant to resolve legal ambiguities that a 2015 U.S. Supreme Court decision created about when pregnant workers are entitled to accommodations on the job. The House Education and Labor Committee is set to mark up the bill Tuesday.
