A prominent House Democrat urged the Department of Labor’s internal watchdog to complete its months-long investigation into former Lori Chavez-DeRemer, who resigned as labor secretary earlier this week.
House Education and the Workforce Committee Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-Va.) told DOL Inspector General Anthony D’Esposito in a letter Thursday to finish the investigation into allegations that Chavez-DeRemer committed travel fraud, created a hostile working environment, and improperly steered grant money. He also sent Acting Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling a separate letter, instructing him to preserve all documents and records around the investigation.
