Delta Pilots Overwhelmingly Approve Strike Authorization Vote

Delta Air Lines Inc. pilots nearly unanimously approved a strike authorization vote Monday, giving union leaders the authority to call for a work stoppage once they’ve gone through steps set by federal labor law.

About 99% of pilots who voted approved the proposal, the Delta unit of the Air Line Pilots Association said in a statement. The participation rate among Delta’s roughly 15,000 pilots was 96%.

While aviators must follow steps set by the Railway Labor Act and can’t randomly walk off the job, the strength of the vote represents pilots’ view about the lack of progress in negotiations.
