Deloitte, Ex-Consultant Reach Deal to End Disability Bias Case

Deloitte Consulting LLP and a former employee with a hearing impairment reached a deal to resolve the worker’s disability discrimination lawsuit on the eve of trial.

The worker, who took a multiyear break to handle family issues and joined a Deloitte internship program for those returning to the workforce, alleged the consulting company didn’t accommodate her hearing difficulties in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The parties reached a settlement with undisclosed terms late last week, averting a trial scheduled to start Monday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
